History

Afarand Scholarly Publishing Institute (legal name: Afarand) began its activities in winter 2003 in Iran. It is a private institute governed by a group of faculty members and led by its general director, Hamed Bastin (PhD in Logic and Scientific Methodology), who has extensive experience in managing scholarly journals. Because of the limitations of operating in Iran, Afarand moved to Türkiye in 2018 and has continued its activities there since then.

Afarand is the publisher of its journals, not their owner. Every journal published by Afarand is owned by a university or research institute; Afarand provides publishing, editorial management and technical services to the owner under a written agreement (see Ownership and Management).
